Samsung Semiconductor India Research Inaugurates Skill Centre
Skill Centre to Drive AI, ML, and Robotics Training in Karnataka
Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR) has launched its first Samsung Skill Development Centre at Government Polytechnic Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) in Karnataka. As part of its CSR initiative, SSIR has set up five state-of-the-art laboratories dedicated to AI/ML, Robotics, Cybersecurity, Automation, and Core Engineering disciplines.
This initiative underscores Samsung’s commitment to empowering rural youth with industry-ready technical skills and nurturing India’s innovation ecosystem.
Empowering Students Through Advanced Learning Labs
The five modern labs are equipped with cutting-edge tools to provide hands-on training and practical learning experiences. This multidisciplinary approach ensures students gain exposure to AI algorithms, robotics programming, cyber defense techniques, and automation workflows directly relevant to industry needs. By fostering curiosity and problem-solving skills, Samsung enables future engineers to develop job-ready competencies while pursuing their diplomas.
Aligning with India’s Skill Development Mission
According to Balajee Sowrirajan, EVP & MD of SSIR, the skill centre is a pivotal step toward bridging India’s digital divide. The initiative supports the Government of India’s mission on skill development, providing students in rural Karnataka with access to emerging technologies like IoT and AI. With over 500 attendees, including government officials, faculty members, and students, the inauguration highlighted Samsung’s role in shaping India’s digital future.
Building on Samsung Innovation Campus Success
This project extends SSIR’s earlier Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) program, which trained over 1,000 students and teachers in AI and IoT across 37 polytechnic colleges. The SIC program also delivered infrastructure support, training kits, and curriculum modules, enhancing technical education in Karnataka. The new skill centre at KGF Polytechnic builds on this success by creating state-wide innovation clusters.
The Samsung Skill Development Centre at Government Polytechnic KGF is a landmark project that combines AI, ML, Robotics, and Cybersecurity training under one roof. By empowering rural students with industry-focused education, Samsung is helping India secure a competitive edge in the global technology landscape.
